CRAIG LOEFFELHOLZ
of Ravenna
Nominated by Janelle Grabowski of Ravenna, who wrote:
I highly recommend Craig Loeffelholz, on behalf of his children, for the Nebraska Father of the Year Award. Craig is the father of two handicapped children who are incapable of ever walking or talking. He is also the legal guardian for another boy. He is totally involved with his kids from the minute they get up in the morning by feeding, dressing, and seeing them off to school, until he carries them and tucks into bed at night. Read more . . .
ROBERT BACKER of Norfolk
Nominated by Stephanie Backer of Norfolk, who wrote:
What makes a good father? Anybody can father a child, but it is an entirely different thing to be a father to a child. A father can be any man who is loving; patient; takes care of his family; teaches his children good morals and lives them out himself.
My father, Rob Backer, meets all of these qualifications. His own father wasn't around a lot of the time to be a model for him to learn from, but he has risen above that and has become the father that my brother and I need. Read more . . .

GENE W. HOLBROOK of Lexington
Nominated by Brenda Smith of Yankton, SD, who wrote:
I want to nominate my father Gene Holbrook. People always tell me how nice, warm, friendly, caring and compassionate I am, I tell them that's because of my parents. I would like to believe I am daddy's little girl since I am the youngest and have always felt a special connection to my dad. I found myself loving the things he was passionate about, math, the weather and many more.

DANIEL B. LOVERCHECK of Lincoln, who wrote:
Nominated by Darin J. Lovercheck of Lincoln
I would like to nominate my father, Daniel B. Lovercheck, for father of the year. He has three children, all of us are grown up. From the time we were young children, he supported us in whatever we were a part of. He coached several of our sports teams. He gave up his time and energy to be active in our lives. When we performed in the school choir or band, he was there at every performance. When my brother and I wanted to travel abroad, he made sure it was possible.

DAVID MANN of Omaha
Nominated by Rachel Mann of Omaha, who wrote:
Romans 5: 3-5, "Knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us." My brother and I have heard these words of wisdom more times than not. Anytime we were struggling, whether it was after a hard fought soccer game, or a confrontation with a friend, these words from our father gave my brother and I a positive outlook on the situation. He is a man of respect, commitment, courage and compassion. Read more . . .
MARTIN PETERMANN of Holdrege
Nominated by Marcia Kuhlmann of Holdrege, who wrote:
How do I begin to tell you what a wonderful man my father is? When I was small, dad was the only one working in our family so he was not able to make a lot of our school activities and other things. But, when he was not working we spent a lot of time fishing, boating and just being together which meant the world to me.

GORDON QUIRING of Hampton
Nominated by Alicia Davis of Hastings, who wrote:
Most people probably wouldn't describe a small farmer living outside a village in Nebraska, with only a high school education, driving a twenty-year old car with over 200,000 miles as a "success story", but my dad has taught me that how you live your life is much more important than what you accomplish in the eyes of the world. RAY R. ROBERTSON of Madison
Nominated by Kristi L. Hegemann of Madison, who wrote:
My father, Ray R. Robertson, deserves the Nebraska Father of the Year Award. My father exemplifies what it means to be Father of the Year. As my father's oldest daughter, at 37-years-old, I am still daddy's little girl. Read more . . .

I would like to nominate my father for the Nebraska Father of the Year Award. My father is very involved and committed to his family.
