Royce Schweitzer Named Father of the Year

Royce Schweitzer of Henderson has been named 2009 Nebraska Father of the Year and will be honored at a Celebration of Fatherhood luncheon to be held at Embassy Suites in Lincoln on June 18.
Schweitzer is a band director at Heartland Schools in Henderson. In addition to his regular work week, he is often busy with evening rehearsals and weekend competitions. His commitment to his family and his students has gained him the love and admiration of the whole community. Schweitzer was nominated by his friend, Jeff James of Omaha, who wrote of Schweitzer's dedication as a single parent to five children, one of whom deals with special health concerns.
Thirteen other finalists and their nominators will also be recognized at the June 18 luncheon. They are: Mark Blowers of Davey, Tim Garvey of Omaha, Jerry Hall of Morse Bluff, Anthony Hudson of Chadron, Sean Minchow of Pleasant Dale, Phillipp Peterson of Blair, Robert Riddle of Aurora, Nyal Rowse of Bradshaw, Delbert Sackchewsky of Waco, Larry Stauffer of Humboldt, Jeff Sutter of Aurora, Marc Wittstruck of Martell, and Jerry Wonderly of Broken Bow.
